One of many ministries we offer our church families is the opportunity to have a church family funeral meal after the service for their loved one. We have over 30 adults, both men and women who come together in teams to organize and to serve a true meal of Love.
The building, the tens of hours of volunteer service from 10-20 adults, the homemade salads and homemade desserts are provided by members in Christian love. Families are asked to offset the cost of the meats (entrees), vegetables, and beverages. The cost is roughly $ 1.50 per person, with a minimum of $50 per meal. Additional purchase items for us are the foam products for beverages, foods, and the plastic ware and napkins to each person. Costs for this average $.75 per person. Or, a total of the two of $ 2.25.
A comparison choice which some families choose is to go to a cafeteria or restaurant and pay about $8-12 per person and then a tip. We have had some families elect to hire a professional caterer and serve at church, costing $ 8-11 per person. We always work with the family to design the menu as they desire, as possible.
Families may make a donation back to the church and the serving group, but this is NOT in anyways necessary.
